Un ferragosto bollente. Come chavisti e opposizioni si preparano al recall. E perchè sette cittadini su dieci contro El Comandante potrebbero non bastare per chiudere un'era.
Between now and the election, Mr. Chávez and his supporters will again have opportunities to delay and manipulate the vote. Even if voters succeed in unseating him, he may well run for the office again -- in 2006, if not sooner. Unless the opposition coalition unites behind a strong presidential candidate, Mr. Chávez could regain his office with the votes of his supporters, who represent more than 30 percent of Venezuelans. |
