I disarmati e i carri armati. Qual è il ruolo del Dalai Lama nella rivolta dei tibetani? Secondo i cinesi ne è l'ispiratore: la sua "cricca" sarebbe responsabile dei disordini. La ovvia accusa dei gerarchi di Pechino è però smentita da una realtà decisamente più complessa. Voci discordanti all'interno dell'esilio tibetano mettono in discussione la figura di Tenzin Gyatso:
Tsewang Rigzin said an explosion of protests and rioting in the vast Himalayan region signalled the 72-year-old Dalai Lama, who has lived in northern Indian since fleeing Tibet after a failed uprising in 1959, was out of step with his people. Rigzin said there was now mounting frustration among Tibetans over the Dalai Lama's so-called "Middle Way" policy - a non-violent campaign for autonomy rather than independence for his homeland, a region that China considers to be an undisputed part of its territory. (...) Lhagyal Tsering, a teacher in Dharamshala, signalled many of the over 100,000 refugees living in India may start looking elsewhere for leadership. "We're demanding a peace dialogue between His Holiness and the Chinese. But at the moment, Dalai Lama is out of the picture. It's a Tibetan people's movement," he said. Perché i cinesi hanno scelto la linea dura in Tibet? Perché è nella natura del regime: Therefore, as far as Beijing is concerned, when the regime's moral and political legitimacy is threatened, the leadership almost always chooses to take a hard, uncompromising line. It is one thing to negotiate with protesters when the issue is about lost jobs in Chongqing. It is another thing completely when the protest is a direct challenge to the party's right to rule. Tra le tante inopportune aperture di credito che in questi anni hanno accompagnato la crescita economica cinese, una recitava che una strage come quella di Piazza Tiananmen non si sarebbe potuta ripetere, che i tempi erano cambiati, che la dirigenza comunista aveva imparato a contenere la protesta con metodi differenti. Oggi l'urlo di dolore del Tibet svela l'inconsistenza di questa interpretazione. |
